If you are facing a problem of shrinking gums and sensitive teeth a soft tooth brush and toothpaste designated for the sensitive teeth will be a good choice. 

Salt Water 
Salt is one of the natural medicines for the cure of different diseases. It also serves as a medicine for relief of toothache. Dissolve a teaspoon of salt in a cup of boiling water, take a sip of it and swish it in your mouth for almost half a minute then spit it out, finish whole cup of water by repeating this process. It will clean the area around your teeth and will draw out that fluid which is causing pain. This mouth wash will also give a relief to your sore throat. Make it a practice before going to bed. It will keep the toothache away from you. 

Extracts 
Extracts of different vegetables and fruits also serves as medicine for the relief of toothache. If you have extract of peppermint, vanilla, lemon or almond readily available in your home soak a cotton ball in anyone of it and hold that on the area where you are feeling the pain. Hold it for a short period of time; it will give relief to your toothache. 

Salt and Pepper 
Take equal amount of salt and pepper, mix it together and make a paste of it by adding few drops of water. Apply this paste to the affected tooth and leave it there for few minutes. It will give a relief to your toothache. This homemade medicine is one of the best medicines for the care of extremely sensitive teeth. 

Clove Oil 
Curing of toothache with clove oil is one of the popular traditional treatments. Take one or two drops of clove oil on cotton ball and place that ball on the affected tooth. Keep it there until you feel that the pain is reduced. Never ever pour the oil direct to the affected area, it will worsen the pain and will hurt the tissues of your tongue. Keep a clove direct on the affected tooth, chew it gently and keep it on the affect tooth for half an hour. Oil released from the clove will help to reduce the pain. 

Garlic 
Garlic is also very helpful for the relief from toothache. Mix garlic powder with table salt or if available with the black salt and apply it direct to the affected tooth. Chewing one or two clove of garlic is also very helpful in reducing the pain. 

Onion 
Onion provides relief from toothache. It kills the germs that are caused by an infection. Chewing some raw onion will provide relief from pain. You can also place a piece of raw onion direct on the affected tooth or gum. 

Ice cube 
Massaging hand with an ice cube can give relief to toothache. Massaging the flash area between your thumb and forefinger with an ice cube wrapped in a thin cotton cloth gives cold signals to brain and overrides the pain signals coming from you tooth. 

Alternately you can place a piece of ice cube in a plastic bag and wrap the bag with a thin cloth and apply it to the affected tooth for 15 to 20 minutes. You will feel a relief in pain.
