Facts about Diarrhea Causes and Symptoms 

Diarrhea is one of the common diseases around the world, it is always considered as embarrassing and inconvenient. Mostly it is caused due to unhygienic food, overeating, infection, bacteria in the digestive system, food allergies, abuse of alcohol and food poisoning. 


Diarrhea lasts for few days and causes a lot of dehydration due to fluid loss. Patients suffering from diarrhea have at least 3 to 4 or more liquid bowls in a day. Commonly it is caused due to infection in intestine because of virus or bacteria. These infections are caused due to improper, impure and unclean food or directly from a person who is already suffering from it. Stomach flu is also considered as one of the reason for diarrhea. Infection of cholera could also be a reason for a watery diarrhea. People suffering diabetics and hypertension also becomes victim of it.

Let us discuss some of the causes of diarrhea in details.

Bacteria 
In a routine on daily basis we are consuming lot of all type of bacteria, yet there are some bacteria which are not suitable for the health and disrupt the balance of our body. These unsuitable bacteria can cause the symptoms of diarrhea. If you are suffering from a chronic diarrhea it is advisable that you may consult your doctor immediately.

Viruses 
Viruses are another cause of bacteria. Some viruses such as Norwalk virus and rotavirus are considered as the common cause of diarrhea in the young children. Their body recovers in few days without the use of antibiotic and medication but they should go for a complete bed rest and use proper hydration. Parasites also give diarrhea that could cause nausea and vomiting. For a speedy recovery you may consult your doctor.

Food containing sugar and high fat
Foods rich in sugar and high fat are one of the leading causes of diarrhea. It can also be caused in toddler because of their rich in fat diet and food. Adults could wait and monitor their condition for one or two days but in case of toddlers and children they should immediately contact a doctor as there is a danger of bloody diarrhea at anytime.

E Coli bacteria 
E Coli is a bacterium that is found in human and animal intestine. Usually this bacterium is not harmful, but it can cause severe food poisoning in children and old age people because of use of unhygienic food. Products prepared from raw meat also contain these bacteria. In such cases an immediate medical attention necessary as it also can cause a bloody diarrhea.

Antibiotics 
Antibiotic are used for the treatment of infections but it also can cause imbalance in intestines. A disruption could also be caused in intestine flora by the use of those medications which comes with properties of antacid and magnesium. These medications kill the good bacteria in our body and especially in our intestine. Medication that cause to irritate the digestive system

 Laxatives
A laxative is described as medication for stool softener but it should always be taken as per doctors’ advice. Taken more than the recommended doze it can cause a severe diarrhea in patients of all ages. Much care should be taken when giving a prescribed doze of it to toddlers and seniors. It could be administrated by a doctor or could also be used at home.

Viral infections
An acute diarrhea could be caused due to a viral infection. A viral infection is very common in children and seniors it could be caused due to flu or stomach flu. In these cases symptoms includes watery diarrhea or loose green stools. Chances of a bloody diarrhea are lesser in case of viral infection but acute diarrhea is very common.

Food poisoning 
Our stomach is designed to eliminate and digest nearly all kind of foods either those are soft one or hard. But in some cases some of the food slips from digesting process and cause diarrhea. Sometimes it becomes very harder to trace the origin of the food poisoning. In case of food poisoning an immediate medical attention is a must.
